If a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for Carroll County, all Law Enforcement Agencies and RAGBRAI officials will be notified by a broadcast from the Carroll County Communications Center. Law enforcement officers will announce the warning to all RAGBRAI participants with the public address systems. Riders will be notified to relocate to the nearest emergency shelter. If the National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning, the outdoor warning sirens shall be activated by the Carroll County Communications center.

Shelter Site Information

These storm shelter locations will be utilized in the event of severe weather when RAGBRAI is in the City of Carroll. Shuttle buses will be used to transport campers located further from the shelter sites. Please be familiar with where your campsite located and the closest shelter available to you.

Dialing 712.792.3536 reaches the Carroll County Communications Center which will be always staffed. This number will be called and instructed to activate the calling tree for the emergency shelter plan.
